Prosecution Unit
The Prosecution Section is responsible for the processing of all contraventions established by Inspectors of the Public Health Department for any offence against the relevant provisions of the Local Government Act, City Council’s regulations and any other relevant enactment.
Returns of contraventions received from Wards, Markets and Fairs Sections are legally dealt with and lodged before the District Court by the Prosecutor.
He/She will follow all the cases lodged until a judgment is delivered by the District Magistrate.
All cases pertaining to the Public Health Department are lodged in the District Court of Port Louis (North and South Division).
