COUNCIL’S VISION
The Council aims at achieving a world class standard in promoting the social, economic, environmental and cultural well being of the citizens and in developing Port Louis so that the city obtains international recognition. Port Louis has also a rich heritage of over 200 years. With these historical and cultural attributes, the City has a legacy of ancient infrastructures which need to be modernized without losing the original character and charm of Port Louis. The Council has therefore an ambitious vision for Port Louis to be strengthened as Capital City with the right type of development which considers the element of sustainability.
COUNCIL’S MISSION
The Council has to make optimum use of management and operational skills together with Council’s endeavour to provide and ensure a continual quality service to inhabitants, economic and social partners. The practice of corporate governance remains a top priority for the Council and is considered to be a pre-requisite for good performance within the organization in line with the corporate governance structures recommended by the Code of Corporate Governance for Mauritius.
