HERITAGE

Port Louis has 81 buildings, sites and monuments listed as national heritage, the highest number in Mauritius. The City has, since June 2006, the first world heritage site of the country, the Aapravasi Ghat, which was the landing place and immigration depot of some half a million of immigrants coming from India since 1849.
