GENERAL NOTES FOR THE CARRYING OUT OF A BUSINESS ACTIVITY

As from January 2020 all payment of trade fee is effected at the Corporate and Business Registration Department (CBRD) of the Registrar of Companies and any economic operator who is exempted from payment of fees is being issued with a Business Registration Card by the CBRD specifying that the trade is exempted from payment of trade fee.

1. Economic operator registers business at CBRD and obtains Business Registration Card and where applicable Certificate of Incorporation.

2. Upon receipt of the Business Registration Card, economic operator should call at the Planning Department of the Council to confirm whether a BLUP will be needed and for relevant formalities (if applicable).

  • Only the activities that will be done immediately should be listed on the Business Registration Card.
  • Unnecessary activities / places of business should be removed from the Business Registration Card.
  • 3. Depending on the nature of activities, economic operators should also call at relevant Regulatory Bodies such as:-

    - Ministry of Health & Wellness

    - Mauritius Fire & Rescue Service

    - Ministry of Commerce & Consumer Protection

    - Construction Industry Development Board

    - Ministry of Blue Economy, Marine Resources, Fisheries and Shipping

    - Mauritius Society of Authors

    - National Land Transport Authority

    - Mauritius Revenue Authority

    - Police Department

    - Ministry of Agro Industry and Food Security.
